Massey Ferguson Rakes from Scot Agri

A side delivery rake places the swath to one side of the machine, while a centre delivery rake places it down the middle, between the rotors. Both are two-rotor rakes, but the way they lay the crop suits different jobs.

Side delivery: Massey Ferguson's side delivery rakes (MF RK 702 TR-SDX, RK 772 SD-TRC and RK 842 SD-TRC PRO Gen2) can lay two narrow swaths, one large swath, or a double swath by making a return pass, and the setting can be switched in seconds. Large overlaps between the rotors keep crop transfer tidy in difficult conditions.

Centre delivery: Massey Ferguson's centre delivery rakes (MF RK 662 TRC, RK 802 TRC and RK 1002 TRC PRO) form a single, well-shaped swath on the centre line. The working width can be adjusted without tools and set in four positions, with swath widths from 1.20m to 2.20m.

A farmer might choose side delivery to put two swaths together into one large row for a high-capacity baler or forage harvester, or to keep the swath clear of the next pass on smaller or awkward fields. Centre delivery suits farms wanting one even, consistent swath every time, ready for a round baler or forager to pick up cleanly.

The right size of Massey Ferguson rake depends mainly on how much grass you rake each season and how quickly you need to get it done.

Single-rotor (3.40m to 4.50m): the MF RK 341 DN, RK 391 DN and RK 451 DN suit paddocks, smaller farms and smaller fields, and run from tractors from around 23hp.

Two-rotor (6.60m to 10.00m): side and centre delivery models from the MF RK 662 TRC up to the RK 1002 TRC PRO suit medium and larger farms that need more output per pass, particularly on silage ground with several cuts a year.

Four-rotor (12.50m to 14.00m): the MF RK 1254 TRC EC, RK 1254 TRC PRO Gen2 and RK 1404 TRC PRO Gen2 are built for large farms and agricultural contractors covering big areas in a tight weather window.

The maximum working width of a Massey Ferguson rake is 14.00m, on the four-rotor MF RK 1404 TRC PRO Gen2. Across the RK Series range we supply, working widths run from 3.40m to 14.00m.

3.40m to 4.50m: single-rotor rakes for paddocks and smaller fields.

6.60m to 10.00m: two-rotor rakes for medium to large farms.

12.50m to 14.00m: four-rotor rakes for large farms and contractors, gathering a wide area into one centre swath in a single pass to keep a big baler or forage harvester working at full capacity.

Tine arms on a Massey Ferguson RK rake can be replaced individually, without dismantling the whole rake head. This comes down to how the rake head and tine arms are built.

Conical bolted ring: the rake head is bolted together using a conical ring. The bolts take only compressive and tensile forces, not shearing forces, which keeps everything centred and stable over a long working life.

Machined connection point: each tine support is made from one piece of tube, and the point where it meets the tine arm is machined for a precise fit. That makes tine arms easy to fit, reduces wear at this heavily loaded point, and keeps repairs quick.

Screw-in tines: tines are screwed in from underneath rather than pushed over the tube, so worn tines can be changed without removing all the others.

Overload protection: the drivelines are fitted with overload protection, which helps prevent costly damage and downtime during the season.

Steerguard is Massey Ferguson's patented steering system for its two- and four-rotor rakes. It keeps the rake running exactly in the tractor's track while staying agile on turns.

How it works: the steering shaft runs inside the rake frame rather than outside it, and has only two pivot points. The steering movement passes from the shaft to the wheels through stub axle steering with adjustable track rods, fitted with high-precision conical heads of the kind used on commercial vehicles.

Protected from damage: because the steering shaft sits within the frame, it is shielded from knocks, stones and field debris, unlike externally mounted steering rods.

Accurate for longer: with fewer pivot points to wear, steering stays precise and safe even after years of use.

Safe on the road: the positive, direct steering keeps the rake stable at speed, allowing transport at up to 40 km/h between fields where permitted.

For Scottish and UK conditions, that matters. Fields are often small, irregular or sloping, gateways and farm roads can be tight, and wet weather means crop has to be raked and baled quickly when the window opens. A rake that follows the tractor accurately through headlands and gateways, and travels safely between scattered fields, helps you make the most of every dry spell.

Yes. Massey Ferguson RK rakes are designed to follow uneven and hilly ground closely, which suits the rolling and upland grassland found across much of Scotland and the UK.

Fully cardanic rotor suspension: each rotor adapts to the ground independently of the frame, tilting both front to back and side to side, so crop lying in dips and hollows is still picked up and the sward isn't damaged, even in hilly terrain.

Jet effect: when lifting, the rotor rises at the front first, and when lowering, the rear wheels touch down first. This stops the tines digging into the ground, keeping soil out of the forage.

Rotor tyres and chassis: multi-wheel rotor chassis spread the load and follow the ground. The MF RK 802 TRC PRO and RK 1002 TRC PRO have a six-wheel tandem axle chassis with 18-inch tyres and larger, rigid leading wheels for difficult conditions.

Height adjustment: single-rotor rakes have linear height adjustment as standard, so working height is easy to set for your ground conditions.

Braking and stability: the four-rotor MF RK 1254 TRC PRO Gen2 and RK 1404 TRC PRO Gen2 have an air brake system for hillside work, and a low centre of gravity for safe transport.

Steerguard steering: keeps two- and four-rotor rakes tracking accurately behind the tractor, including on slopes and through tight gateways.

Single-rotor Massey Ferguson rakes (MF RK 341 DN, RK 391 DN and RK 451 DN) mount on the tractor's three-point linkage, Category I or II, with a floating headstock.

Linkage: the rake attaches to the tractor's lower links and top link like other three-point implements. The floating headstock lets the rake follow the ground rather than being held rigidly by the tractor.

PTO: the rotor is driven from the tractor's PTO at 540rpm, through a PTO shaft with an overload safety clutch to protect the driveline.

Tractor power: power demand is approximately 23hp for the RK 341 DN, 27hp for the RK 391 DN and 41hp for the RK 451 DN.

Working set-up: working height is set with the linear height adjustment, and all single-rotor models lay the swath to the right, where the operator can see it from the tractor seat.
