Ben Taylor joined the team in August this year, based in our Huntly depot and covering the surrounding area.

Ben’s passion for agriculture started at an early age when he began helping on his neighbour's farm. "Aye, just basically all my life. I've been working on a farm.  Then when I left school, I worked on the farm again before I got a chance at being a mechanic”.

Before joining Scot Agri, Ben had his own business where he designed and created custom liquid fertilisers and spray kits and before that he worked as a mechanic for A M Phillip Agritech in Huntly (before A M Phillip Agritech joined the Scot JCB Group in 2018).

When asked about his favourite machinery Ben replied, “I've always been a big, big, fan of Massey.” His enthusiasm for Massey Ferguson has even influenced his children, with his son looking forward to the possibility of doing work experience alongside his father in the future. Ben told us that his favourite machine from Massey Ferguson range was the MF 8S, which won tractor of the year in 2021. Luckily for Ben, we think he will get plenty of opportunities to work with his favourite machine in his new role at Scot Agri!

One of Ben's main motivations for applying for his role as an Agricultural Sales Representative was to transition out of hands-on mechanical work by the age of 40. "I've always enjoyed sales, demonstrating machines and showing people what they can do," Ben said.

Ben is dedicated to building strong relationships with his customers. He aims to understand their activities, how they operate, and provide valuable advice based on his extensive background in agriculture. He also values Scot Agri's after-sales services and has high praise for the Service Engineers at the Scot Agri Huntly depot, “I know we’ve got really good mechanics at Huntly which means we’ve got really good back-up and you can’t sell machines without good back-up.”

Outside of work, Ben has rekindled his passion for clay pigeon shooting and enjoys spending his free time with his family.

Steven Mitchell, Regional Manager for Scot Agri added “Ben has a wealth of experience, and I am sure this will help him on his way to building a successful career with Scot Agri. He will be out and about meeting all our customers in the area over the coming weeks.”

The Scot JCB Group wishes Ben the best of success in his new role, and you can contact him via email at ben.taylor@scotagri.co.uk or by calling him on 07827351402.
