We caught up with Graeme Bushnell, our new Agricultural Sales Representative based from our Forfar depot. With years of hands-on experience and a passion for machinery, Graeme is bringing a wealth of knowledge to the Scot Agri team. During our conversation, Graeme shared his background in agriculture, what inspired him to join Scot Agri and what excites him most in his new role!

A Lifetime in Agriculture

Graeme’s connection to farming started early. From the age of 18, he gained invaluable hands-on experience working on farms, a journey that lasted until about a year and a half ago. After years of long hours in the field, Graeme decided it was time for change. Transitioning into sales felt like a natural step, allowing him to stay close to the agricultural industry he’s passionate about, while also achieving a better work-life balance.

Hands-On Experience Meets Sales Expertise

Graeme was drawn to the position at Scot Agri as it gave him the opportunity to work with products and brands he truly believes in and has experience working with himself. “When working elsewhere, I was selling a brand I trusted because I used their products myself,” he shared. “At Scot Agri, I’m already familiar with their equipment, especially Horsch drills, which I believe are second to none in the market.”

Graeme’s enthusiasm for the machinery he represents shines through in everything he does. “It’s so much easier to sell something you genuinely believe in,” he said. For Graeme, his work is more than just sales – it’s about sharing his passion for top-quality equipment!

A Passion for Machinery

When asked about his favourite piece of machinery, there was no hesitation, “It would be the Horsch drill.” Having worked on various types of equipment over the years, Graeme firmly believes that Horsch products are the best on the market.

However, Graeme’s knowledge doesn’t stop there. With over 35 years of experience using tractors, he’s well versed in a variety of machinery. Graeme’s eager to expand his understanding of different brands and models, particularly tractors, as he continues to learn and grow in his new role at Scot Agri. “I know the basics of every machine, but I want to dive deeper into the specifics of each brand and how they can benefit the farmers I work with,” he explained.

Building Connections: Supporting Farmers’ Success

The move into sales has been rewarding for Graeme, especially as he has continued to build relationships with farmers. “I enjoy going out and seeing farmers and helping them move forward with their operations,” he shared. Graeme’s roots in the farming community have helped him connect with customers on a personal level. “Most of the farmers already know me, which makes it easier for them to trust me with their needs,” he added. With his farming background and years of experience, Graeme is a real asset to both local farmers and the Scot Agri team as a whole.

Beyond Work: Graeme’s Hobbies and Passions

While work is a huge part of Graeme’s life, it’s not the only thing that keeps him busy. Outside of work, Graeme has a number of hobbies to help him unwind and stay active. He’s been playing pool since childhood and still makes time to play twice a week. Additionally, Graeme has spent 15 years kickboxing – a passion he picked up in his 30s. When he’s not working, Graeme also enjoys spending time with his family!

Will Fleming, Agricultural Director added, “we are thrilled to welcome Graeme to the Scot Agri team. With his wealth of knowledge and experience, we’re confident that he will hit the ground running and be a valuable addition to the team!”
