Meet Jack Freeman - Group Product Specialist at Scot Agri
Scot Agri is delighted to welcome Jack Freeman to the Kelso Depot team as our new Agricultural Product Specialist, covering the South of Scotland and North of England.
Bringing Technical Expertise to Scot Agri
With experience in the agriculture industry, Jack brings a wealth of practical engineering knowledge and a genuine passion for machinery. Growing up with a rural upbringing and keen interest in countryside pursuits such as shooting, agriculture has always been familiar territory for Jack, even before entering the industry professionally.
Jack began his career in the motor industry, completing his apprenticeship before moving into agriculture, working as an Engineer with various machinery.
A Role Built On Variety
For Jack, one of the biggest attractions of the agricultural industry is the variety that comes with the job.
‘In the motor trade, most days looked pretty similar,’ he explained. ‘In agriculture, no two days are really the same. There’s always different machinery, different challenges and different places to go.’
That variety is something he continues to enjoy in his new role at Scot Agri. Whether it’s carrying out demonstrations, learning new technology or working directly with customers, no two days are the same.
Jack also enjoys the balance between the technical side of the role and the customer-facing aspect, helping operators get the very best performance from their machinery.
Getting Hands-On with the Latest Technology
As Product Specialist, Jack’s role currently centres around demonstrations, machine preparation and continuing to develop his knowledge across the Scot Agri product range.
A large focus so far has been spending time getting familiar with the latest machinery technology, particularly within the JCB and Horsch ranges.
‘The technical side comes fairly naturally to me’, Jack said. ‘A lot of what I’m focusing on now is understanding the machines from an operator’s perspective as well, making sure I can help our customers get the most out of their kit!’
Having already spent time at JCB working with the new JCB 6000 Series, Jack is looking forward to getting more hands-on demo time with customers.
A Customer-First Approach
For Jack, building strong customer relationships is one of the most important parts of the role.
He describes his approach as easygoing, honest and focused on understanding exactly what works best for each individual customer and business.
‘A big part of the job is helping people get the best out of the machinery they already have, as well as helping them make the right decisions moving forward,’ he explained.
Jack believes taking the time to build trust and genuine relationships is key, particularly in an industry where reliability and long-term support matter just as much as the machinery itself.
Looking to the Future
Although still in the early stages of his career with Scot Agri, Jack has already been impressed by the company’s forward-thinking approach and investment in technology.
‘I think Scot Agri is very forward-thinking,’ he said. ‘Even the fact that this role exists shows there’s a big focus on the future and on helping customers understand and get the most from modern machinery technology.’
With agricultural technology continuing to evolve rapidly, Jack is excited to continue developing his knowledge and supporting customers as new products arrive on the market.
Favourite Machinery
At the moment, Jack says the JCB Fastrac range is the machinery he feels most comfortable with, particularly the new 6000 Series which he has been spending significant time getting familiar with since joining the business.
He has also been particularly impressed by the HORSCH Leeb VT sprayer range, highlighting the advanced technology and operator-focused systems built into the machines.
‘The technology on the HORSCH sprayers is really impressive,’ he explained. ‘That’s definitely been one of the standout products I’ve worked with so far.’
While tractors and sprayers are currently where he feels most at home, Jack is continuing to build experience across the seeding and cultivation ranges as he develops further within the role.
Early Highlights
One of the standout experiences so far has been taking part in customer demonstrations with the HORSCH Leeb VT sprayer.
The opportunity to work closely with customers while showcasing the latest technology has been something Jack has particularly enjoyed during his first few months with the business.
Looking ahead, he’s especially excited about the arrival and future demos for the new JCB Fastrac 6000 Series, which he believes will be a major talking point for customers across the region.
Life Outside of Work
Outside of work, Jack enjoys spending time taking part in taking part in shooting and generally enjoying the countryside!
