Meet our Apprentice Engineer Sam Graham! Sam enjoys the versatility of an apprenticeship with the ability to work onsite, learn at college and put his practical skills to use in our Haddington Depot workshop.

1. What motivated you to apply for the Scot Agri apprenticeship?

I applied to Scot Agri as I’ve always had an interest in the mechanic trade, but I wanted to go into a field that was a bit different from previous experience.

2. What skills have you learned so far within your apprenticeship?

So far, I have learned new practical skills such as welding. I’ve also had the opportunity to work on a variety of different machinery, large and small. I also got to learn how to drive a tractor which I think is every young boy’s dream!

3. What do you enjoy the most about your apprenticeship?

I enjoy going out to jobs on farms in the van, as well as working in the workshop and having the opportunity to study away from home at college. I find it to be a refreshing experience away from work and I feel like I can learn new skills better

4. What advice would you give someone who is applying for an apprenticeship?

I think the advice I would give would be to keep an open mind and take advantage of any given opportunities. I’ve had a great experience working for Scot Agri so far, everyone has been very helpful and knowledgeable.
